The Calling

I felt a tug when I rounded the corner.
The narrow hallways of my old high school, still haunt my dreams.
Being here, brings back feelings long since buried.

Someone else was here.
The whole school should be vacant.
Midnight. Weekend.
My heart races at the possibility of a confrontation.
I’m here on “unofficial” business.
I followed a demon here.
My own.

I open a door.
In haste, I make bed on white royalty
And chase the dragon.
