Hello, Sweet Darkness

His mind was in disarray
As a result of a lack of
He’d been slowly changing until he no longer had seen himself
When he looked into the eyes of others
A stranger to himself
He felt useless
An anonymously forced chemical lobotomy
Discovered by chance
Quite by accident

A dam broke
Feeling new
He reinvented himself
And lived

He peeled away the dusty shell that covered his atrophied mind
He thirsted for the magic of words to be infused
With that part of himself that only emotion could touch
Outwardly however
No one noticed as his diminished capacity
Gave way to the bright light of clarity restored
